Jeff has experience handling a broad variety of sophisticated litigation matters, including commercial disputes, investment fraud, financial institution litigation, partnership and shareholder disputes, real property litigation, restrictive covenant enforcement and defense, intellectual property disputes, distributor and franchise disputes, trade secret protection and theft, unfair competition, commercial torts, wage payment obligations, defamation, director and officer liability and fiduciary duty disputes.  

 

Jeff is a former Board Member and a Past President of Jewish Council for Youth Services and is a member of the New Trier School Board Caucus.  Jeff volunteers his time to Glencoe Boy Scout Troop 28 and served as its Scoutmaster for five years.  Jeff enjoys biking and a good game of poker.

Full Bio

Jeff has experience in handling all phases of litigation, from the temporary restraining order/injunction phase through trial and appeal.  Jeff has prosecuted and defended numerous temporary restraining orders, preliminary injunctions and evidentiary hearings.   Jeff has appeared in U.S. federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. He has argued before the Illinois Appellate Court, and appeared before the Illinois Supreme Court and the federal Seventh and Ninth Circuits Courts of Appeals.  Jeff has extensive experience with arbitration, including JAMS, AAA and FINRA, in a variety of matters.

Area of Legal Concentration

Jeff has substantial experience in banking and lending disputes and litigating trade secret misappropriation, unfair competition and restrictive covenant claims. Jeff has defended numerous directors and officer matters, ranging from shareholder derivative suits to claims threatened or pursued by federal banking regulators and receivers.  Jeff has frequently represented beer and wine suppliers and distributors in franchise and distribution disputes.  Jeff also serves as corporate counsel to family and mid-sized businesses, assisting in the drafting of employment agreements, contracts, negotiations and prelitigation counseling to avoid or mitigate risk.
